When painting moves into space.

Metamorphosis begins with a simple question: what happens when the matrix of an artwork leaves the surface of the canvas and begins to live through light, movement, space and matter?

Painting remains the point of origin.

Colour, gesture and rhythm can extend beyond the canvas and take on new forms while keeping their identity recognisable.

Light can amplify a chromatic tension.

Movement can introduce time.

A digital surface can carry gesture into architecture.

An object can transform part of the matrix into a new physical presence.

From surface to experience.

In front of a painting, we observe a surface.

When the matrix of the artwork enters space, the way we encounter it changes too.

We move through it.

We see it change with distance.

Light alters colour.

Movement introduces sequence, pause and transformation.

Architecture becomes part of the experience.

One origin. Different forms.

Every development begins with a real artwork.

I do not consider digital media, light or technology as effects added to painting.

I use them when they can extend something that already exists within the work: a tension, a rhythm, a chromatic structure, a gesture.

The form can change.

The matrix remains recognisable.

The artwork encounters its context.

Metamorphosis changes in relation to the space it enters.

Within a hospitality environment, it can work through light, scale and movement.

Within a brand project, it can enter into dialogue with materials, visual codes and identity.

Within a cultural space, it can become an installation or an immersive experience.

Within an object, it can condense its presence into a more intimate form.

I always begin with the artwork.

Then I look at the place, its function and the people who will move through it.

From there, I decide which elements of the matrix can expand and what form they should take.

PAINTING → LIGHT → MOVEMENT → SPACE → OBJECT

This is not a compulsory sequence.

It is a territory of possibility.
